ψ tnpSep3 : degenerate ISSep3 family transposase pseudogene [1]

Staphylococci contain several degenerate insertion sequences that are no longer likely to be functional. This Sep3 family transposase pseudogene contains a premature TAY→TAA stop codon at position 17 that is unlikely to be avoided by frame-slipping or other bypass mechanisms. It also requires frame slipping at position 85. Although there is a slippery sequence in that region suggestive of potential ribosomal frame slipping, this is not a mechanism involved in translation of bona fide ISSep3.
