Ribosome-associated GTPases including Era, RsgA, RbgA, HflX, ObgE, EngA and EngB are widely-conserved, stringent response alarmone-responsive ribosomal assembly cofactors

• ObgE displays transient 50S subunit binding and may act as a 70S anti-association factor checkpoint. Alarmone binding increases 50S affinity resulting in sequestration of large ribosome subunits and functional ribosome depletion.
