ureE : urease accessory nickel metallochaperone UreE [1]
Urease (alt: urea amidohydrolase) processes urea into more bioavailable ammonia and bicarbonate. The overall structure consists of a trimer of alpha-beta-gamma subunit heterotrimers. Apo-urease must be "activated" to its functional form by urease accessory proteins including carbamoylation of lysine-221 of the alpha subunit and formation of a diatomic nickel metallocenter.
