The 3' end of the rlmH coding sequence contains the canonical SCCmec attB site with the rlmH core sequence TATCATAA becoming a direct repeat found in attR1, attR2 and attL of MRSA strains. Ribosome large subunit methyltransferase H (alt: ribosome large subunit nucleobase methyltransferase H, 23S rRNA pseudouridine(1942) N-(3)-methyltransferase) attaches a methyl group to the pseudouridine nucleobase 3-position of residue 1942 in 23S ribosomal RNA (S. aureus numbering; pseudouridine 1915 by E. coli numbering).
