esxB : type VIIb/ESAT-6 secretion cargo stabilization and transolocon recruitment component EsxB [1]
• Staphylococcus aureus encodes a toxin secretion system called either the "Type VIIb Secretion" or "ESAT-6" pathway. EsxBCD surround the toxin "cargo" and the Esx-cargo complex is loaded onto a "translocon" system for transport across the staphylococcal membrane. A dedicated peptidoglycan amidase/endopeptidase (EssH) hydrolyzes the cell wall to allow translocated (exported) cargo access to the extracellular environment.
