yjbH (dsbA): ClpXP substrate-recognition adaptor protein [1]

Under normal conditions, stress-induced regulator Spx is targeted for proteolysis by YjbH-augmented ClpXP. Under conditions of redox or other stresses, YjbH self-aggregates, Spx is no longer proteolyzed and it binds the alpha subunit of RNA polymerase where it enhances binding to extended -44 promoter elements.
