dgkA : undecaprenol kinase [1] [2]

In gram-positive bacteria the DgkA kinase is primarily associated with phosphorylation of undecaprenol whereas DgkB is the soluble diacylglycerol kinase. However, DgkA is not essential and other enzymes, potentially, DgkB, can rescue the undecaprenol phosphate requirement in a ΔdgkA mutant strain, albeit with a severe growth defect.
