kimA : cyclic di-AMP responsive potassium: proton symporter KimA [1]

Bacteria use the second messenger signaling nucleotide cyclic-di-AMP to regulate internal osmotic pressure and maintain balance with both the environment and the cell wall integrity. High cyclic-di-AMP levels repress K+ Internalization Membrane protein A (KimA), both allosterically and at the transcriptional level through KtrDE, resulting in reduced potassium import, reduced intracellular potassium and lower turgor pressure.
