Other Information[edit | edit source]

FemA is responsible for the second step in synthesis of the peptidoglycan pentaglycine cross-bridge. It adds a glycyl-glycine to glycyl-lipid-II resulting in a triglycine cross-bridge. When bound to FmhA, FemA can incorporate a glycyl-serine resulting in an altered cross-bridge.
