virB6 : ICE6013 membrane translocon extended channel protein VirB6 [1]

Some staphylococci have acquired a Type IV secretion system encoded on an integrative conjugative element (ICE6013), which encodes a minimal conjugative transfer function that may have adapted to double as a small molecule translocation system. Membrane translocon channel proteins assemble into a cell membrane-spanning pore with the VirB3-VirB4 hexamer-of-heterodimers ring on the cytoplasmic face and an extended C-terminal domain extending into the extracellular environment. The role of the extended C-terminal domain is unclear but may be involved in association with the VirB8 extracellular channel protein.
