tslBψ : Type VII-secreted phospholipase toxin TslB pseudogene [1]
TslB is a paralog of the type VII-secreted phospholipase toxin TslA. Staphylococci may encode as many as three TslA paralogs although frequently all are deactivated by frameshift mutation except for one. In a 2023 survey of sequenced Staphylococcus aureus genomes, 78% of isolates encode a full-length TslA, 41% a full-length TslB and 13% a full-length TslC.
